Basalt fiber is an inorganic fibrous material produced from natural basalt-one of the most widely distributed volcanic rocks in the Earth's crust-through a process involving high-temperature melting and specialized drawing techniques. It possesses properties such as high-temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, and strong chemical stability, allowing it to combine the eco-friendliness of natural fibers with the strength advantages of synthetic fibers. From a technical standpoint, the production process involves key stages such as raw material selection, high-temperature melting (typically at 1450–1500°C), fiber drawing using platinum-rhodium alloy bushings (controlling filament diameters to 9–13 microns), and surface treatment. The high-temperature melting process directly influences the fiber's crystallinity and mechanical properties, while the bushing drawing technique determines its uniformity and surface smoothness.
