Controlled Twist and Strand Construction

A specific quantity of fine basalt continuous rovings are combined and twisted into a stable yarn structure to create basalt twisted yarn. Fine straight rovings with filament widths of 10–13 μm and twists of 20–100 twists per meter in the S or Z direction are used in the range. A single straight roving can have a maximum of eight strands per yarn and parameters between 68 and 150 tex.

68 Tex, 10 μm filaments with Z40 twist; 68x2 Tex, Z50 twist; 110x3 Tex, 11.5 μm filaments with Z50 twist; and 150 Tex or 150x2 Tex with 13 μm filaments are examples of representative architectures.
