Fire-Resistant Cable Manufacturing

The use of mica tapes in electrical insulation and fire-resistant systems is the most well-defined. Fire-resistant cables are made from glass-fiber-backed phlogopite mica tapes, in which the mica layer serves as a fire barrier and preserves electrical insulation at high temperatures. The E-Tape P structure, which uses premium phlogopite mica bonded with glass cloth and silicone resin, is halogen-free. It has a dielectric strength of more than 12 kV/mm and a tensile strength of more than 120 N/cm.

Motors, Generators and VPI Systems

Mica tapes are also used extensively in rotating electrical machinery. High-voltage AC motor ground-wall insulation, wind turbine generator stator coils, railway traction motors, sealed and submersible motors, DC motor field coils and transformer barrier insulation are all covered by the VPI data. Low-resin mica tapes are intended to absorb the impregnating resin during VPI processing and become a component of the finished insulation structure. Equipment with insulation thicknesses of 2–7 mm that operates at voltages between 10 and 27 kV is included in the list of applications.

Induction Furnaces and High-Temperature Equipment

Mica tapes are used for more than only insulating cables and motors. The purpose of the E-Foil structure is to shield induction furnace coils from crucible leaks. It is made of thick phlogopite mica paper bonded with glass cloth. Additionally, the mica surface acts as a sliding contact to make crucible extraction with a push-out mechanism easier. This product has a mechanical strength of more than 120 N/cm, a dielectric strength of more than 12 kV/mm, and a thickness of 0.2 to 0.5 mm. Rolls are typically 1,000 mm broad and 25 meters long.
The application of these mica tapes serves as an example of how crucial it is to choose a product structure based on the particular mechanical, electrical, and thermal requirements of the apparatus.
