Phlogopite as the Insulating Base

Phlogopite mica paper, which has been found to be appropriate for high-temperature insulation and fire-resistant applications, is the foundation of phlogopite mica tape. Phlogopite is described as a high-quality mica material for fire-resistant cables that is especially appropriate for settings that demand heat and fire resistance. Mica paper is mixed with heat-resistant adhesives and reinforcing elements to create a flexible insulation layer for tape assembly.
Glass cloth, silicone resin, and premium phlogopite mica are used in the E-Tape P configuration. The tape has a thickness range of 0.08 to 0.15 mm and a mechanical strength of over 120 N/cm. Its dielectric strength is greater than 12 kV/mm, and its maximum operating temperature is 950°C. Our halogen-free construction maintains a high dielectric strength at elevated temperatures.

Reinforcement for Cable Processing

During the cable manufacturing process, glass fibre reinforcement gives the phlogopite mica tape the mechanical support it needs. 145 ± 8 g/m² of phlogopite mica, 32 ± 2 g/m² of glass fibre, and 25 ± 3 g/m² of binder make up the 0.15 mm glass-fiber-backed framework. One or more conductor layers may be directly covered by the tape, usually with a 20–50% overlap.

Where Phlogopite Tape Fits

The main applications for phlogopite mica tapes are high-temperature insulation and the production of fire-resistant cables. With its excellent dielectric strength at high temperatures and low halogen emissions, E-Tape P also serves as a fire barrier. Phlogopite mica paper and muscovite are essential mica substrates for electrical insulation systems in VPI (Vacuum Pressure Impregnation) applications.
Practical factors including mica grade, thickness, reinforcement, resin system, necessary dielectric qualities, and operating temperature are more crucial than mica type alone when choosing phlogopite mica tape.
