Heat Resistant Mica Sheet

Heat Resistant Mica Sheet

The majority of insulating materials are completed at 250°C. The development of heat-resistant mica sheets is still in its early stages. Phlogopite mica has a higher ceiling at the AX-THERM level, working continuously at 700°C with sporadic peaks above 1000°C.

What 1,000 °C Actually Means

The majority of insulating materials are completed at 250°C. The development of heat-resistant mica sheets is still in its early stages. Phlogopite mica has a higher ceiling at the AX-THERM level, working continuously at 700°C with sporadic peaks above 1000°C. Its more cost-effective cousin, Muscovy, runs alternately at 800°C and continuously at 500°C. This mineral doesn't melt, fire, or emit harmful fumes when heated because it doesn't contain any organic stuff.

Keeping Heat Where It Belongs

It is a thermal barrier rather than a conductor due to the poor thermal conductivity of about 0.3 W/mK perpendicular to the sheet. It preserves dimensional stability under thermal cycling, shields adjacent components, and keeps cool surfaces cool. In order to prevent joints from being pushed apart during furnace circulation, thermal expansion is also kept mild, at around 100 × 10⁻¹/°K perpendicular to the sheet and 10 × 10⁻◦/°K. For this reason, heat-resistant mica sheets-materials that must endure radiant heat and flames-are utilised in industrial furnaces and kilns, protect engine compartments and exhaust areas, and create fire barriers in the aerospace and automotive industries. Most significantly, weight loss is negligible at high temperatures; phlogopite loses less than 2% of its weight at 700°C and muscovite loses less than 1% at 500°C, enabling the sheet to maintain its material qualities throughout many years of high-temperature operation.

The Grades for Hot Work

Hard phlogopite, which is resistant to the temperatures and corrosive gases of electric arc and induction furnaces, is the main material used for casting operations and furnace lining. Flexible fibreglass cloth with a phlogopite backing is used for thermal delamination and cladding in small areas because it can be bent into position without cracking. Both are non-flammable and emit no hazardous fumes, which is crucial in high-risk areas. Since continuous and intermittent ratings indicate distinct commitments, we enquire about the heat, length, and frequency when referring materials.
