In terms of performance, basalt fiber boasts a tensile strength of 3,000–4,800 MPa-1.5 to 2 times that of standard glass fiber-and a modulus of 85–110 GPa, approaching the level of carbon fiber. It withstands temperatures ranging from -260°C to 700°C, with short-term temperature resistance reaching up to 900°C, far exceeding the 450°C limit of glass fiber. Its chemical stability is equally outstanding; it retains over 90% of its strength after 28 days of immersion in acidic or alkaline solutions (pH 2–12). Furthermore, it is non-absorbent and resistant to mold, making it indispensable for applications in extreme environments.
